Singapore was the first country to host the inaugural Youth Olympic Games 14-26 August 2010.
A major new initiative by the International Olympic Committee, the Youth Olympic Games would be the world’s premier sports competition for those between the ages of 14 and 18.
The Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games featured the best of what the world’s youth had to offer with 26 sporting events, including innovative new ones such as BMX biking and 3-on-3 basketball.
Aside from competitive sporting events, the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games also provided educational programmes that taught young people about the benefits of sports for a healthy lifestyle, the dangers of drugs, inactivity and training to excess, as well as about the social values that sports could foster.
The STC Riding Centre is proud to have provided the venue for the Equestrian Jumping event at the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. |
